Course Description

Program Description The School Psychology program is a two-year, thesis-based graduate (MA) program that balances theory, practice, and research. It follows a practitioner-scholar model that emphasizes the importance of evidence-based practice and maintaining knowledge of current research. The School Psychology program builds and extends on the foundational knowledge that you have obtained in your undergraduate psychology degree. Coursework is focused on developing a theoretical understanding of learning and behaviour in a developmental context, as well as conceptual framework for professional practice as a psychologist. Becoming a knowledgable, critical consumer of research is essential to developing an understanding of the need for evidence-based practice. Exposure to current research in the field is an integral part of all coursework in the School Psychology program. You'll further develop your research skills by completing a master's thesis. The School Psychology program coordinators will help you to find a thesis supervisor once you begin the program.
